Bolton Wanderers have signed winger Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer, as confirmed by their official club website yesterday.
The 36-year-old has signed a short-term contract with the Championship side. He has been without a club since leaving Burton Albion in the summer but has found his next destination now.
Dyer will add some more depth and options to the Trotters’ ranks. He has racked up over 500 appearances so far in his lengthy career.
Lloyd Dyer is a familiar name among English football fans having had spells with the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City, QPR, Millwall, MK Dons, Leicester City, Watford, Birmingham City, Burnley and Burton Albion.
Bolton are no strangers to delving into the free agent market and snapped up players such as Jason Lowe, Erhun Oztumer, Clayton Donaldson, Jack Hobbs, Luke Murphy and Marc Wilson all for nothing over the summer.
Phil Parkinson is doing an impressive job with them and the signing of Dyer is a sensible one, especially with Sammy Ameobi being out injured at the moment. His experience and know-how of the Championship will come in handy.
Here is how their fans reacted on Twitter to the signing of Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer-

At least Dyer can’t score against us now. #bwfc

Dyer signing makes sense. Need cover for Sammy, plenty Champ experience and usually scores against us! Not many free agents out there that would be a better fit #bwfc

Lloyd Dyer has never lost a game against Wanderers and has scored four times in eight starts. If nothing else, this signing is a preventative measure. #bwfc

Releasing Morais but signing Dyer. Clueless #supermug73 #BWFC
