Swansea receive double injury boost ahead of trip to Middlesbrough

Swansea City face Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon in what is looking like a tough fixture for both sides.

Middlesbrough’s victory over Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night was enough to push them back into the automatic promotion spots, whereas Swansea dropped to 10th place after defeat against Stoke City on Tuesday.

However, Swansea have received good news, with a double injury boost for their trip to the Riverside on Saturday afternoon.

Jay Fulton and Tom Carroll are fit and training with the first-team squad, and both should be ready to feature on the weekend. The former missed the trip to Stoke in mid-week due to a head injury sustained at Nottingham Forest last week, and the latter has been suffering with a hip injury and has not featured in the last two fixtures.

Leroy Fer and Bersant Celina are reportedly going to sit out the game against Middlesbrough, and Fulton and Carroll’s return will be a significant boost for the Swans ahead of the fixture.

“Tom has made really good progress,” said boss Graham Potter in an interview which appeared on Swansea’s official website. “He is involved for the weekend and it’s the same with Jay Fulton.

“Bersant (Celina) is responding well but probably this game will be a bit too soon. It’s the same with Leroy (Fer) – we are probably looking towards the QPR game for both of them.”

If results go Swansea’s way they could jump up into the Play Off positions, with only three points seperating third and 10th.
