Leeds United player ratings vs Preston North End

It really should have been more than 3-0. Leeds United crucified Preston from about ten minutes in, pulling them about the pitch, bullying them in every area and cutting them open at will. Three one-on-ones and countless passes that were just off it was a pleasure to watch as BielsaBall entered full flow.

Player Ratings

Baily Peacock-Farrell – 8 – A real classy performance. One decent save in the first-half but his handling, distribution and the command of his area was top.

RB – Luke Ayling – 8 – Started very shaky and made a couple of bad mistakes but got away with it. After that he was back to his best, finding pockets of space in the middle of the park at times. Didn’t give Callum Robinson a sniff before he switched wings.

Pontus Jansson – 9 – #T72MOM – Immense tonight. On the ball absolute quality and up against a very physical Louis Moult he was just as good. Bullied the big striker. Looked too easy for him at times tonight.

Liam Cooper – 8 – After a very dodgy start on the ball he pulled himself together. Got the goal at a crucial time and then really began to pick it up. Much better on the ball in the second half.

Barry Douglas – 8 – The sooner everyone realises just how good he is at whipping a ball in the better. Why Alioski goes near deal balls is beyond me. Solid tonight, great on ball and did everything else very well.

Kalvin Phillips – 9 – Just keeps getting better and better. Dominated the middle of the pitch, bullied Browne and Johnson who might as well have stayed at home and yet again showed his range of passing. Wonderful ball for Tyler Roberts’ first goal.

Mateusz Klich – 8 – Had two very good chances but you have to look at the positives of how he got into those positions. Give him them next week and he’ll score both. A great showing on the night,. helped control the game and pulled the Preston midfield all over.

Jack Harrison – 8 – Getting better by the game and looking a real threat. Had he bagged the goal he deserved and should have scored he probably would have been the man of the match. In the end it came back off the post. Showing Alioksi how to beat players.

Gjanni Alioski – 6 – The one player who didn’t really get into the swing of it for me. Although he worked extremely hard and got into good positions he struggled to really make that impact the others around him did time and time again.

Samu Saiz – 9 – One of those nights for Saiz. He isn’t a goalscorer so he brings other attributes. His touch on the turn tonight was out of this world. Opened Preston up time and time again and although he sometimes makes the wrong final pass he got so many right tonight.

Tyler Roberts – 8 – I have written a lot about Roberts over the last few days and the latest was about him getting time to grow into this side. Tonight he got two chances and bagged both. Too many writing him off under extremely difficult circumstances over the weekend. Delighted for him.
