Middlesbrough take on Bolton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday night, and both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Middlesbrough lost their first game of the season on the weekend against Norwich City at Carrow Road, with the side not playing to their usual standard and slipping to a 1-0 defeat. Equally, Bolton lost at home to struggling side Queens Park Rangers, and both teams will sense an opportunity to get three points on the board.

Going back to last season, Middlesbrough have won six straight home league games in a row, and their record against Bolton is also promising, given they have won aof their last five meetings between the two sides when playing at The Riverside Stadium.

Boro striker Britt Assombalonga has scored five goals in his last three games when facing Bolton, and will be looking to add to his tally on Wednesday evening. He currently has two goals to his name this season having played seven games in the Championship so far.

On the other hand, Bolton are yet to be beaten away from home, and have won at West Brom and Reading so far this season. However, they are also winless in three, and after a good start they are starting to slip down the table.

Phil Parkinson’s side will also be without talismanic wide man Sammy Ameobi who picked up an ankle injury in last week’s defeat against QPR.

If results go Middlesbrough’s way, a result could see them go into first place, whereas if results go Bolton’s way they could go into a Play Off position.
