Stoke City boss Gary Rowett has confirmed that star man Tom Ince is set to return to the fold in time for Saturday’s trip to Hillsborough to take on an in-form Sheffield Wednesday side in an interview with the club website.

The Potters have won just one of their opening six league games this season, but the performances and displays of Ince have been one of the few positives to take from this season so far.

Talking to the club website, Rowett said “Tom will definitely come back into the reckoning for Saturday’s game. We’ve missed him since he’s been out.”

“He’s trained for about a week now, looked very sharp and we know what great quality he has got and it will be great to get back in the mix of things.”

“Fortunately we have won two of the last three games – something you tend to forget after the West Brom game – and we’ll be looking to pick that back up with Tom being a part of it.”

The former Derby and Birmingham boss went on to offer some words on the upcoming fixtures and the state of his squad ahead of Saturday’s fixture.

“We have healthy competition for places as well and we’re in a position where we can make multiple changes to the team, but of course a consistent winning team is what we are after.

“We’ve had such a long time since the last game that you almost pick the game afresh and play what team you think is the most appropriate one.”
