Two free agents Sheffield Wednesday should look to bring in

Jos Luhukay’s Sheffield Wednesday have made a solid start to the 2018/19 Championship season, picking up ten points from their opening six games, including three straight victories prior to the international break.

However, with the Owls failing to complete a single permanent or loan transfer this summer, things could soon get tough for the Yorkshire club as the season wears on and injuries and suspensions begin to take their toll. That in mind, here are two free agents Sheffield Wednesday should look to snap up in the coming weeks.

Nedum Onuoha

One position where Wednesday are extremely short of depth is at centre-back. The Owls currently have just three out-and-out centre-backs at the club in Tom Lees, Jordan Thorniley and Joost van Aken, the latter of whom is currently heavily out of favour and could desperately use some extra experience and cover at the back.

31-year-old defender Nedum Onuoha is currently available on a free transfer after leaving QPR last season and would be a perfect fit for Jos Luhukay’s system.

The athletic centre-half proved his ability as a solid Championship defender and natural leader throughout his 207 appearances as a QPR player.

Bakary Sako

Bakary Sako is currently being eyed up by a host of Championship clubs including Aston Villa and West Brom, but with a shortage of quality wide players, the Owls should definitely be looking towards the former Crystal Palace man over the coming weeks.

His blistering pace and direct style makes him an automatic upgrade on Marco Matias and his arrival would ease the attacking pressure on the shoulders of Lucas Joao and Atdhe Nuhiu immensely.
