Presenter tips former Aston Villa defender Terry to join Manchester United

The 37-year-old Barking-born centre-back is currently without a club after leaving Villa Park in the summer following the expiry of his one-year deal with the Sky Bet Championship club.

The rumours have been circling around all summer about Chelsea legend Terry’s next career move. The veteran defender has been tipped to take up a punditry role with Sky Sports along with prolonging his career. Several clubs from across the world have been linked with moves for Terry with the player refusing to rule out continuing his playing days for another year.

With the transfer window having closed, Terry is able to still sign for a new club as a free agent. His bonkers transfer saga continued this week with rumours that he could return to Aston Villa but talkSPORT presenter Durham believes that Terry’s most likely move could now be to link up with former mentor Jose Mourinho at Manchester United with The Red Devils in need of a leader on the pitch to rescue their horrific start to the new season.

Manchester United have conceded seven goals in their first four English Premier League fixtures and presenter Durham says that Terry is a better option than the majority of defenders who are already on the books at Old Trafford.

In his one-season spell with Aston Villa, Terry made 36 appearances for the club in which he scored one goal. A financial meltdown at Villa Park over the summer forced Villa and Terry to go their separate ways, however, recent fresh investment at the club could help keep their hopes alive of bringing the player back.
