John Terry has cryptically hinted on his Instagram account that he might be returning to Aston Villa. Speculation has been rife in recent times of this potentially move, given that Steve Bruce has instructed the club owners to do all they can to get him back to Villa Park.

The weekend loss to Sheffield United has seemingly accelerated Bruce’s desire to add to their defensive options. Terry captained the club to the play-off final last season, and only finances meant he was unable to re-sign for this captain. Aston Villa however secured significant investment and have since signed some talented players. Terry himself looks to have hinted he might be pulling on the famous jersey once again.

Sporting Lisbon have been heavily linked with the player and Terry has been holidaying in Portugal over the summer. Pedro Madeira Rodrigues intends to become the next president of the club, and says a deal to sign the free agent is ‘very close’.
