Middlesbrough star nominated for PFA Player of the Month Award

Middlesbrough have kept five clean sheets in August, and haven’t conceded a single goal since the opening day of the season when they faced Millwall at The Den.

A player who has been instrumental in Middlesbrough’s success at the back is goalkeeper Darren Randolph, and the Republic of Ireland international has been rewarded for his terrific performances.

Middlesbrough have confirmed via their official Twitter account that Randolph has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Month Award for August.

Any one of the Boro back line could have been nominated, with all defenders helping to get the Teessiders to joint-top of the table. The likes of Dael Fry, Aden Flint, Ryan Shotton, George Friend and Dani Ayala have all played their part, but Randolph’s consistency in the Middlesbrough goal has given him the edge over his teammates.

The other nominees featured are Leeds United duo Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe, Nick Powell of Wigan Athletic, and strikers Neal Maupay of Brentford and Andreas Weimann of Bristol City, who both sit joint first in the Championship goalscoring charts.

Middlesbrough face Norwich City on Saturday 15th September after the international break, where Randolph will be hoping to continue Boro’s unbeaten run, and maintain another clean sheet to make it six in a row in the Championship.

The award will be voted for by the supporters on the Football Fancast website, and the fans can submit their vote for the award here. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 5th September on the site.
