Rating all of Hull City’s summer transfer business out of ten

Hull City managed to sign eight players over the summer as Nigel Adkins looked to bolster his side. Here is a rating of all his signings out of ten-

George Long, from Sheffield United, 7/10- Adkins has reunited with his former Blades’ goalkeeper. Long impressed on loan at League One side AFC Wimbledon last season and has been used as a back-up behind David Marshall.

Eric Lichaj, from Nottingham Forest, 8/10- The experienced right-back has slotted in nicely into Hull’s defence. He has looked solid in every Championship game so far and does the basics well. He will be an important player for Adkins this season.

Jordy de Wijs, from PSV, 5/10- It is no secret that he has made a shaky start to life in the Championship. However, the Dutch defender is still young and will develop as a defender with more games under his belt.

Reece Burke, from West Ham, 7/10- The 21-year-old has looked decent so far and has a bright future ahead of him. The Tigers’ inability to defend set-pieces has been a worry but Burke will get better as the season goes on.

Todd Kane, from Chelsea, 8/10- The loanee has mainly played left midfield and has impressed with his work rate, commitment and quality that he possesses. With his contract at Chelsea up next summer, he could be signed on a permanent basis by the Tigers.

David Milinkovic, from Genoa, 5/10- He has been a strange signing by Hull having been left out of the first-team squad for the past few games. He was a hit with Hearts last season during his loan spell from Genoa so there is more to give from the winger yet.

Tommy Elphick, from Aston Villa, 8/10- The experienced defender is a shrewd coup by the Tigers and could sort out their defensive frailties. He is looking to shore up their back-line and also set an example to the younger players like Burke and de Wijs.

Chris Martin, from Derby County, 8/10- Based on his past goal scoring record in the Championship, he could turn out to be a huge loan signing if the Tigers can get him scoring. Hull fans seem to be excited by signing him, with some reaction to his move here.
