Hull City battling with Darmstadt for Premier League youngster

Hull City have launched a loan bid for West Ham United’s Reece Oxford, according to the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old, who can play as either a defender or midfielder, has also been the subject of an enquiry by German second division side Darmstadt. AZ Alkmaar and Eibar are also being linked with him.

Hull City are hoping to persuade Reece Oxford with the opportunity of first-team football in the Championship. The Tigers are still looking to bolster their ranks ahead of the transfer deadline at 5pm.

Nigel Adkins’ side are busy at the moment trying to complete loan deals for Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick, Middlesbrough winger Marvin Johnson and Derby County striker Chris Martin. They are in need of some more signings due to their squad currently being short of numbers.

Oxford is another deal that Hull aim to get done. He started his career at Tottenham Hotspur but joined West Ham in 2011. He rose through the youth ranks with the Hammers and made his debut for their first-team in July 2015 in a Europa League game against Andorran side Lusitanos aged just 16. He has since played 16 more times for them.

He is highly-rated by the London side and has enjoyed loan spells at Championship outfit Reading and German Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach over the past couple of seasons.

Hull City could be his next destination where he could potentially link up with his former West Ham teammate Reece Burke, who joined the Yorkshire side earlier this summer.
