Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers keen on Crystal Palace left-back

Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers are interested in Crystal Palace left-back Papa Souare, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on Twitter.

The 28-year-old could leave Crystal Palace today on loan ahead of the deadline at 5pm to get some more first-team minutes under his belt.

Aston Villa are hoping to get various deals over the line today as Steve Bruce continues to bolster his squad. They are also keen on getting a loan move completed for highly-rated Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, as reported by The72 earlier today.

They are now looking to boost their defensive options by loaning Papa Souare. He would provide them with more depth and competition at left-back.

Villa will have to face competition from fellow Championship side Bolton Wanderers for the defender’s signature though. The Trotters are still in the hunt for some more players. although their main priority will be bringing in a striker today.

Papa Souare moved to England in 2015 when Crystal Palace signed him for a fee of around £3.5 million from French Ligue 1 side Lille. He has since played 60 times for the Eagles. Prior to his move to Selhurst Park, Souare had spells with Senegalese side Diambars, Stade de Reims and Lille.

It is likely to be a busy day in the Championship today as clubs look to make the finishing touches to their squads. Papa Souare is someone who could be bound for the second tier, with Aston Villa and Bolton battling it out for the Senegal international.
