Aston Villa to beat Middlesbrough in £8.7m France Under-20 international race

According to Alan Nixon, writing on Twitter (below), Aston Villa are again about to trump Teessiders Middlesbrough in the race for a Transfer target.

Moukoudi

As Nixon indicates, Villa are said to have made “big progress” on a move for French Under-20 international defender Harold Moukoudi. 20-year-old Moukoudi currently plies his trade in Ligue2 for Le Havre – graduating into the first-team from the Under-19s in 2016.

Bondy-born Moukoudi has featured in five Ligue 2 games for Le Havre this season, playing the full 90 minutes in each. These appearances come as part and parcel of the 48 appearances that he’s made for the French side (four goals/one assist) since making his breakthrough.

Aside from representing Le Havre, the youngster of Democratic Republic of Congo descent has featured 18 times for the French junior international sides – the most numerous of these being 10 appearances (one goal) for France’s Under-16 set-up.

This “big progress” on the move for the talented youngster needs also to be a speedy one – the loan window closing tomorrow. However, as The Scottish Sun reported yesterday, Villa have “submitted an offer” for the defender in a move to head off gathering interest from SPL champions Celtic.

All this is given further credence from a report in French publication Foot Mercato who produce particulars of the deal that Villa have proposed. According to them Steve Bruce’s side have offered a loan fee of €1.1million (£1million) for the youth international with an obligation to then seal a €7.7million (£6.9million) in January.

There is a warning from Foot Mercato though who say, that whilst Villa may have made this offer, the youngster “prefers to continue his progression in France (Ligue 1) before attempting the adventure abroad.”

Villa sit in an enticing 4th place in the table at this early stage of the Sky Bet Championship campaign, just four points shy of early leaders Leeds United.
