Leeds United, Leeds United target and former Newcastle youngster joins Brentford on trial

Leeds United target and former Newcastle youngster joins Brentford on trial

Former Newcastle United youngster Yasin Ben El-Mhanni has joined Championship side Brentford on trial, Goal.com are reporting.

Leeds United are amongst a host of clubs eyeing up a move for the former Newcastle United youngster, with French sides Amiens and Saint Ettiene and Heerenveen of Holland all looking at bringing in El-Mhanni.

However, Brentford have made the first approach for the London-born winger, and he is currently on trial with the Griffin Park side. El-Mhanni played for The Bees in a behind-closed-doors friendly win against Bournemouth on Tuesday, as he hopes to earn a contract with the Championship high-flyers.

Leeds United are hoping to bring in an attacking midfielder before the end of the transfer window to provide support for Spanish star Samu Saiz, but it seems Bielsa is targetting another playmaker, with Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay tweeting that United are closing in on a Premier League playmaker on loan:

El-Mhanni was released from Newcastle United after he made allegations of bullying and discrimination against academy coach Peter Beardsley. Despite Beardsley was discovered to have used discriminatory language and conducted himself in a ‘generally unfair’ manner towards El-Mhanni, according to The Mirror. As a result of this, the youngster was advised to reject any new contract offers from The Magpies, and so he was released at the end of the season.

The tricky winger rose to fame after videos of his tricks appeared on YouTube, which resulted in him becoming a double and skill consultant for Brazilian superstar Neymar and five-time Ballon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both El-Mhanni and whoever signs him before the end of August will be hoping he can fulfil his potential and show his skills that saw him rise to fame in the early stages of his career.
