Could Nigel Adkins use his links with Southampton to sign loan players for Hull City?

Nigel Adkins is in need of a few loan signings to boost the numbers in his Hull City squad before the end of the month. Here are some players from his former club Southampton who he could target-

Harrison Reed- He spent last season on loan in the Championship with Norwich City and played 43 games for them in all competitions. He was one of the brightest up and coming talents at the Saints when Nigel Adkins was in charge there. With him having seemingly fallen down the pecking order at Southampton, he is a midfield option for Hull.

Jake Hesketh- The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has played 4 times for Southampton’s senior side so far in his career. He is a talented player who is in need of some more first-team experience. Like Reed, Hesketh was part of the Saints’ Under-21’s side who won the U21 Premier League Cup in 2015.

Sam Gallagher- This would be an ambitious move for the Tigers considering there has been a lot of interest from various Championship clubs in him this summer. Hull need a striker and Gallagher would fit the bill. He has spent time on loan at MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City over recent seasons. He has also played 20 games for Southampton’s first-team.

Marcus Barnes- The highly-rated 21-year-old forward joined the Saints’ academy when Adkins was in charge from Wolves. His brother, Giles Barnes, played in the Premier League for Derby County, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion. Marcus Barnes is a promising talent who is also in need of some competitive game time under his belt.
