Star striker and Sheffield United linked winger staying put at Middlesbrough confirms Pulis

Tony Pulis spoke to the press this morning ahead of Middlesbrough’s Friday night clash with West Bromwich Albion. The Welshman addressed Boro’s comings and goings, and confirmed nobody will leave the club this transfer window.

Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite has started the season incredibly well, scoring three goals in his first four games for Boro. Recent reports suggested that the Danish international was still keen on a move away, with both Lazio and Bordeaux showing an interest.

Many Middlesbrough fans felt that Braithwaite has been the best player for the club so far this season, and losing him would be a huge blow to their promotion hopes.

Equally, winger Marvin Johnson has been interesting the likes of Sheffield United and Hull City in recent weeks, and with Middlesbrough’s pursuit of Yannick Bolasie, Johnson may have been seen as surplus to requirements.

However, Pulis has since confirmed that ‘nobody will leave at this present moment’. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Boro manager addressed the need to get players in, and not let anyone go.

Middlesbrough have already let star players go this transfer window, with Adama Traore and Ben Gibson making Premier League moves to Wolves and Burnley, whereas Patrick Bamford joined Championship side Leeds United.

Both Braithwaite and Johnson have a part to play in Middlesbrough’s promotion push, with Braithwaite one of the in-form strikers in the division at the moment, and Johnson is certainly a good back up to have for the 34-year old stalwart Stewart Downing.
