Reading in talks with Swansea City winger over season-long loan

Reading are in discussions with Swansea City over a potential season-long loan deal for Nathan Dyer, according to Football.London.

The Swans are keen to slash their wage bill further after relegation from the Premier League last season and are open to loaning Dyer out.

The experienced winger has fallen down the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium and could be handed more game time by Reading and his former Swansea boss, Paul Clement.

Nathan Dyer joined Swansea in 2009 and is currently in his tenth season with the Welsh side. He has racked up 310 appearances for them to date in all competitions and has helped them win the Championship Play-Offs in 2011 and the League Cup in 2013 during his time with in Wales.

The 30-year-old spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Leicester City and was part of their side who won the Premier League title.

Dyer, who is 5ft 5inc, started his career at Southampton and went onto play 66 games for them. He also enjoyed loan spells at Burnley and Sheffield United in the Championship before moving to Swansea in 2009.

He has got plenty of experience in the Championship and would be a shrewd loan signing for Reading. The Royals are in need of one or two more signings before the loan window shuts at the end of August. It has been a tough start for Paul Clement’s side this season but loaning Dyer would certainly give their fans a boost.
