Match Preview: Morecambe vs Preston North End

Preston North End’s pre-season is in full swing with their trip to the Globe Arena being their third game in five days, Morecambe on the other hand have two games under their belts and will be looking forward to hosting the Whites in this local friendly.

North End will be travelling the 28miles drive to the Globe Arena in this inter-Lancashire clash. Both set of fans will be eager to see their respective team in action with the potential of bragging rights over the other for the local rivals.

This last time the teams met Preston North End beat the Shrimps 4-2 back in 2012 with at the time in form striker Akpo Sodji scoring twice during the fixutre.

Morecambe Fc begun their pre-season with a defeat and a tie with the hope in this next game they can improve and gain their first victory of the 2014/15 season.

The Shrimps kicked off their campaign against Dundee Fc where they where defeated 4-2 by the Scottish outfit. Morecambe’s last game was against Oldham with a better result saw the team holding the League One outfit to a 2-2 draw. Last season Morecambe finished in 18th place, although not sounding like a season to remember the team boasted a nine match undefeated run in all competitions.

Amond has also spent time in Portugal with Pacos De Ferreira who play in the Portuguese 1st Division. Amod has been capped at U21 level and will look to build on his goal tally since his first season with the Shrimps .

Barry Roche : Age 32

Roche joined the Shrimps back in 2008 and has since been their first choice keeper playing just over 200 games for the club. He has made a name for himself with the Morecambe faithful with some inspiring performances which can be backed up by him winning player of the season  two season on the trot back in 08/09 & 09/10.

He has recently been in competition with Ex-Preston player Andreas Arestidou since his arrival in 2012, the two have been competing for the starting place in pre-season but the seasoned pro will welcome the healthy competition.

Away Team:

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson will again look to give the majority of his squad some game time after a successful pre-season so far.

Preston North End come into this fixture on the back of wins consecutive nights against Bamber Bridge & Halifax town. Grayson has used his whole squad and took the time to try out different partnerships within the starting 11 with no sign of who will be in the first team on a regular basis.

Jamaican born Humphrey joined up with PNE back in 2013 leaving Scottish set up Motherwell for the Whites. During his time at Motherwell he was highly tipped for a move to Rangers.

The Jamaican International has played 50 times for the Whites however last season was played in a non favoured position of wing back, However since the start of pre-season Humphrey has been used as a winger and looked extremely threatening on the right against Halifax using his pace to out sprint opposition.

Alan Browne : Age 19

Position: Central Midfield

Young Alan Browne joined PNE last season from Cork City where he graduated from the U19 team to the first team., Match Preview: Morecambe vs Preston North End

Although Browne hasn’t played many games for the Whites he has certainly turned some heads, He and Brownhill both played together during Preston’s game against Liverpool linked up brilliant together. Browne himself is not afraid to get stuck in to a challenge and loves to pass and move within the central area.
