QPR looking to complete loan deal for Brighton & Hove Albion striker

QPR are looking to complete a loan deal for Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed, according to Football.London.

The Hoops have been pursuing a move for the Israeli striker and have until the end of August to conclude a deal.

Their manager, Steve McClaren, has been in the hunt for a new striker to give his newly inherited side more of a cutting edge. QPR have lost their opening two games of the Championship season but did win on Tuesday night in the League Cup against Peterborough United.

Hemed, who is 31-years-old, is looking for a move away from Brighton and Hove Albion having fallen down the pecking order with them in the Premier League.

He joined the Seagulls in June 2015 and the three-year contract he signed is due to expire at the end of the season. Hemed scored 18 goals in all competitions in his first campaign in England before bagging 15 in the 2016/17 season to help Brighton gain promotion to the top flight.

Hemed then played 19 games for Chris Hughton’s side last season and scored twice in the Premier League. His goal scoring record in the Championship suggests he would be a shrewd loan signing for QPR.

Prior to moving to England, the 6ft striker started out at Maccabi Tel Aviv and won the Israeli Premier League with them in 2011. He then moved to Mallorca in 2011 and spent three years there before spending a single season at Almeria ahead of his move to Brighton.

Tomer Hemed would be a decent loan signing for Steve McClaren’s side and would give QPR more of attacking threat.
