Leeds fans going Loco for Bielsa and his boys – Over 20k expected tonight

Leeds United fans don’t need much encouragement to get behind the club, in fact if we see some good football and passion the fans will flock to Elland Road, tonight is a great example. In what is normally a 12k game, the league cup, season just started and standard club coming, we’ve been told it could be upwards of 20k.

To put that into perspective, a few years ago, pre-Garry Monk we were getting around this total for a league game at Elland Road during the week, just 23k sometimes on a Saturday. Those days are well in the past now, even under Massimo Cellino the numbers rose massively, the ambition showed for Garry Monk, the players signed and then the deal to refund part of the season ticket money to fans if we didn’t reach the play-offs all key factors.

The thing about Leeds fans is that we’ve seen the lot, and that includes the younger fans. Fans want the club to do well despite moaning and groaning on social media, most of us do it and given what we’ve put up with in the last decade everyone is entitled to their opinion, we are all entitled to a grumble here and there. Tonight will see a League Cup game against Bolton Wanderers top 20k, which is a staggering number and Marcelo Bielsa can take great motivation in that.

Bielsa has caught the imagination of the Leeds faithful, the club have caught our imagination by appointing him and the players have got the excitement back by putting the “Bielsa way” into full swing in just a couple of games this season, all deserve huge credit. Tonight will not only see a huge crowd but a very interesting team with the likes of Pontus Jansson, Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison and more to play in a much-changed side.
