Sunderland are in the hunt for another striker before their League Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday. Here are five they should target-
Dan Agyei, Burnley- The 21-year-old joined the Clarets in 2015 from AFC Wimbledon and has since played 3 times for their first-team. He has spent time on loan at Coventry City, Walsall and Blackpool over recent seasons and could leave them again on loan for this season.
Jamie Ward, Nottingham Forest- He spent the latter part of last season on loan at Cardiff City and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League. Ward has fallen down the pecking order at Forest and they will be looking to offload him.
Freddie Sears, Ipswich Town- The former West Ham United and Colchester United may not get as much game time as would like with the Tractor Boys this season under their new boss, Paul Hurst. Therefore, Sunderland could try and bring him in on loan. The 28-year-old has played over 300 games so far in his career.
Caolan Lavery, Sheffield United- He is likely to leave the Blades on loan before the end of August. The Canadian-born striker spent last season on loan at Rotherham United and helped them gain promotion to the Championship. This experience would for Sunderland in this campaign.
Cauley Woodrow, Fulham- His first-team chances in the Premier League are scarce meaning he could leave Fulham on loan again. He has spent time at Burton Albion and Bristol City over the past two seasons. Woodrow, who is a former England Under-21 international, would be ideal for the Black Cats in League One.
