Promoted Rotherham have started life back in the Championship in a much healthier way than when they left it last time around. A win and a loss from their opening two games settling them in mid-table.
An opening weekend, 5-1 hammering by a technically classy Brentford side was put firmly from the Millers’ minds by yesterday’s reassuring 1-0 victory at home against Ipswich Town. A win this early in the season is a vital three points in anyone’s eyes and will set the South Yorkshire side up well for their upcoming league game next weekend.
That game is against a much improved, and quite dangerous Leeds United side under the guidance of coaching guru and, some say legend, Marcelo Bielsa. Under his guiding hand, the Whites have already laid waste to relegated Stoke City (3-1) and put a good Derby County side to the sword yesterday (4-1).
Coming up against a form team is always difficult for a side, even more so when that side has dispensed good teams with a sense of aplomb. With all of that bubbling away in the background, here’s what a selection of Rotherham United fans are saying ahead of the clash that brings South and West Yorkshire together at Elland Road:
Rotherham United fans
Might need it pal, they’re ripping Derby apart something fierce at the moment,

Can only feel for Rotherham, it’s going to be one of those games like Burton at home last season, just double the score obviously 😂 #lufc

Rotherham next in the league honestly can see us winning by a margin 3-0 #Lufc

In a way #LUFC v Rotherham will be the big test of Bielsa’s tactical genius. First two games as underdogs against fancied teams will be reversed this time. Pace of the game and bodies behind the ball, will be a useful test for the team.

How Leeds would it be to batter Stoke and Derby, then lose to Rotherham? #lufc

There’s plenty of over-optimistic score predictions from Leeds United fans across Twitter, some Whites’ supporters thinking that their side are going to royally turn their visitors from South Yorkshire over easily. There is some measured pessimism from Rotherham fans, they’ve seen what their side can offer, and what Leeds have dished out – yes they are worried.
But as more than one Leeds United fan has pointed out, wouldn’t it be just typical for Leeds United to go and lose at home next Saturday.
