There’s no hiding from yesterday’s 4-1 defeat by Leeds United for Derby county, be that players or fans.
It was a strange game to watch, Derby weren’t exactly battered and smashed around Pride Park by Leeds. Yes, they were a beaten side were the Rams, but they were a side that had their chances in a game that was as entertaining as it was frustrating for Derby fans to watch.
In essence they were beaten by a better side on the day, as rookie boss Frank Lampard admitted in his post-match interviews with the media. The Rams obviously came off second-best with the scoreline, but they were also bested in individual battles elsewhere on the pitch, such as in the midfield engine room.
Derby fans were quick to comment on yesterday’s loss to Leeds, but they have also been quick to comment on other aspects of the game itself – including player performances. One player coming in for a few pelters is central defender Richard Keogh.
It is safe to say that he didn’t have that comfortable game yesterday, but in fairness neither did any of the Derby defenders – either individually or as a unit with Fikayo Tomori the pick of the bunch. However, here’s what some Derby fans are saying about their central defender’s performance over on Twitter:
Don’t know how #Keogh stays in the #DCFC team -should have got shut of him 3-4 seasons ago. No pace. As a laugh yesterday I said #LUFC would beat us 4-0 & #Lampard would be out of a job by Christmas & back to talking rubbish on #BTSport.
Could have got 250-1…..— Lyn Caulton (@BonzoBorg) August 12, 2018
I’ll be surprised if Keogh plays much this season, not really impressed much in 2 games, However early days #dcfc

Richard Keogh has had some dodgy games in a Derby shirt but never have I ever seen him play so badly a game after each other. I know it’s been two games so far but he needs to improve quickly #dcfcfans #DerbyCounty #dcfc

Her: He’s been really off since yesterday…
Him: I can’t believe we were taken apart by Leeds Utd at home. What if Curtis is out for a long time? We can’t stick with Keogh at CB. How is Lampard going to add more control & mobility to our midfield?#dcfc pic.twitter.com/v9DBBFM2ns

Don’t get me wrong I’d start Tomori over Keogh when Davies is back. But using him as the scapegoat yet again yesterday is a joke, much worse performances from LB and CDM ♂️ #dcfc

I’ve never really been a Keogh hater think previously he got hate because he was captain but yesterday and Reading he was poor. I think it makes it worse because we know he’s such a better player than how he is playing currently

Still can’t come to terms how Richard Keogh is a regular in Derby’s starting XI. It’s mind blowing to say the least. Fraud #dcfc

Think eventually Keogh will see less and less game time #dcfc #dcfcfans

It's not all doom n' gloom though with some Derby County fans sticking up for Keogh.
There certainly has been some unnecesary meltdowns on social media after yesterday's game. The constant need to make Keogh the scapegoat in every goal we concede or when things go wrong is not required.... JM#dcfc #dcfcfans #justmyopinion

Find it funny how people see a game different! I actually thought Keogh had a pretty decent game! More concerned by full backs and CDM positional play! If you stop them crossing in the first place they don’t score..... #dcfc

It was an eye-opener of a game for Derby fans, but it seems that once eyes were open then there was mainly one way they were looking for Richard Keogh - towards the bench.
