Jay Fulton reacts as he scores first ever league goal for Swansea City

Swansea City’s Jay Fulton has told the club website that he was delighted to get his first ever league goal for the club in their 1-0 win over Preston North End.

The Swans got off to a great start last week when they came from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1. And now they were hoping to follow that up with a win over Preston. The game started badly as Oliver McBurnie had a penalty saved, one earned after Barrie McKay was fouled by Alan Browne in the box, but they got the winner just after the half hour mark when Fulton knocked in a Joel Asoro cross, his first league goal for the club.

It had been expected that Fulton was going to leave this week as he had been heavily linked with a move to Reading but that ended up falling through. So the midfielder was not only delighted to start in today’s match but also get on the score sheet. The only other time he has scored for Swansea is when he scored against Peterborough United in the League Cup back in 2016.

He said: “It was great to get my first league goal for the Swans,”

“It could not have come at a better time for us.”

“I am happy I scored but it is about the team getting the win.”

“Back-to-back wins means a lot. You can see the team spirit we are showing.”

“The second half was tough going for everyone but we stuck together and managed to keep a clean sheet and get the win.”
