Sheffield Wednesday fans were left frustrated as they believed they could have beat Hull City today instead of having to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The Owls have had a bad week due to news off the pitch and were hoping to distract themselves with a good result today. However they did disappoint last week when they lost 3-2 to Wigan Athletic. Hull also got off to a poor start as they lost 3-1 to Aston Villa in front of the Sky Sports cameras despite taking the lead.
And for a while, it seemed like Wednesday were going to lose again as their poor defence let them down again with Frazier Campbell making the most of it score from close range. But in the second half, Wednesday rallied and got a penalty when Reece Burke tangled with Fernando Forestieri in the box. The attacking maverick, linked with a move away this summer, stepped up and equalised. However despite having a lot of pressure and chances, Wednesday were unable to get all three points.
This left a lot of fans feeling frustrated. With the club wanting to get a first win early on to banish some of the bad feeling that has been festering at Hillsborough in recent weeks, seeing the team have a great chance to win over their Yorkshire rivals was frustrating. But after a poor performance against Wigan, many chose to see the positives in this game as they played well enough to win the game, something that didn’t happen last time.
Should have won that! Onwards and upwards #swfc #earlydays

Well a point is better than none but we should have done better. #swfc #uto #wawaw

First half atrocious, second much better. Fox and Pelupessy had an absolute shocker. Thorniley looked very solid. Fletcher could've had a hat trick 🤦♂️. Unlucky not to win in the end. #swfc

Well we'll take a point. Could have won it could have lost it. Fletcher played well but if he could finish we'd have have won comfortably. #swfc

Meh. Not good, but not as awful as last week. Positives are Baker should solidify that RB spot. Hutch is better than VA. We should've won, better side, but couldn't put the ball away. #swfc
