Derby County fans react to team news as Curtis Davies misses out

Derby County fans are wondering what has happened to Curtis Davies as he has not been included in the squad for the match against Leeds United.

The Rams got off to a great start last season as they were able to come from behind to beat Reading 2-1 to make sure Frank Lampard got a win in his first match in charge of the club. It was a similar story for Leeds. Under Marcelo Bielsa for the first time, Leeds many surprised many by beating promotion favourites Stoke City 3-1 last week.

The big surprise for Derby fans when they saw the team sheet today was that Curtis Davies was not included in the matchday squad at all. He did play in last Friday’s match against Reading and there was no hint in the week’s press conferences that he would be missing for this match. But something has obviously happened as he is not in the team at all, He has been replaced by recent signing Fikayo Tomori. With Davies being a fan favourite at Pride Park, many Derby fans are wondering what has happened to see him out of this big game.

But there’s some other news worth paying attention to ahead of this game. Martyn Waghorn is straight into the first team after completing a move from Ipswich Town earlier in the week. He replaces Dave Nugent in the first team line-up. Last weeks goalscorers Mason Mount and Tom Lawrence also start in this match as they hope to get on the score sheet again.
