Villa to offer Grealish new deal – purchase price set in stone

In news coming through from The Sun, it appears that Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish is in for a double whammy – a new contract with a mega pay rise and buyout clause..

Midfielder Grealish was one of Villa’s stand-out stars in their drive to the Play-Off Semi-Final in last season’s Sky Bet Championship. Despite Villa’s precarious financial position at the time, their valuation of £35million proved too hot for Spurs.

The North London club’s proposed valuation of Grealish, a ‘mere’ £25million, would not have approached what the Villans thought their midfielder was worth, so at Villa Park he stays. Spurs did make a rather cheeky offer of £3million plus Josh Onomah – an offer rejected by Villa.

Part of his new deal at Villa is a huge pay rise where Villa’s new owners will reward Grealish, by increasing his wage from a respectable £17,000-per-week to an eye-watering £50,000-per-week.

The other important part of the improved deal in the insertion of a release clause with the Sun’s McGrath saying “a buy-out [clause] likely to be set around the £30million mark.”

Whilst there are some dissenting voices saying that Grealish isn’t worth the £30million being quoted, at least interested sides will have a definite indication what they’ll have to pay to land the talented youngster.

Of course sides still have until the end of this month to make loan deal arrangements, but the January window could very well see improved interest in Jack Grealish.
