Leeds United could be about to make the most exciting signing in the Championship – without panic buying

Leeds United have been quiet in the transfer window today – and although it was stated that the club wouldn’t be bringing in any more permanent recruits, it didn’t quash fans hopes of a last-minute transfer coming into Elland Road.

Most remarkably though, Leeds United fans should be positive that the club haven’t suddenly rushed in, panic bought and overpaid on deadline day – because it’s quite likely that Marcelo Bielsa knows exactly what he’s doing, and one theory is that he’s already got this transfer window planned out.

Of course, it’s fantastic and exciting for fans to see names such as Albert Adomah linked with Elland Road – but fans know that a key position they need to strengthen in, isn’t up front – but it’s at the back.

The West-Yorkshire side are reportedly interested in bringing young Everton defender Matthew Pennington back to Elland Road for a second season – but this is what most fans would expect and wouldn’t raise eyebrows- and Marcelo Bielsa has proven to be excellent at bringing in players under the radar, who fans have been impressed with.

So, who is this wonderful player who could move to Elland Road?

Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth was linked with a move to Elland Road earlier in the transfer window, largely through Marcelo Bielsa’s connections with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino – and with the West-Yorkshire club needing a centre-half, it could be quite likely that the club have a deal already in motion – as the loan market doesn’t shut until the end of the month.

Foyth has a Champions League appearance under his belt for Spurs and several cup outings, and the fact that the defender is yet to break into Spurs’ first-team squad would suggest he’s more than available for a loan away from Elland Road.

Watch this space, Spurs and Leeds United fans.
