Ryan Woods’ future revealed – Brentford or Swansea City?

Ryan Woods will be staying at Brentford as Swansea City will not be able to complete the deal in time according to a report from journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who has also played as a full-back at times, started his career in the Walsall youth system before moving on to Shrewsbury Town where he made his competitive debut. He impressed at the Shrews and quickly became one of their best players which attracted the interest of Brentford who snapped him up for a rumoured £1m in 2015. He has since made over 100 appearances for the Bees.

One of the tales of the day ended up being whether or not Woods would end up joining Swansea. The Swans have been interested in the last few weeks but the Bees have been able to fend them off. Brentford have rejected a number of bids for Woods over the last week but the former Premier League side had been cranking up the pressure and increasing their bids with the West London side facing a very tough task keeping hold of him.

But Brentford can rest easy for now as they will not be losing Woods today. According to this report it has all been left too late and Swansea will not have enough time to get the paperwork in and complete the move. But Brentford shouldn’t rest too easy yet. Because the loan window is open until the 31st August, Swansea may come back to try and sign him on loan. It is an option they are considering and it could become a reality after 5pm.
