Could Nottingham Forest look to sign this Leeds United defender ahead of West Brom?

It’s no secret that Nottingham Forest are noticeably short at right-back this season, and the club have been trying to remedy this by attempting to sign West Ham United full-back Sam Byram, however, it appears that Byram is currently in limbo at West Ham and Forest may want to act quickly before the permanent transfer window closes – and look at Leeds United defender Luke Ayling.

We just reported that news has begun to emerge around West Brom launching a bid for Leeds United’s right-back Luke Ayling worth £5m and with Nottingham Forest’s spending power; there could be the chance that the club may opt to make a move for Luke Ayling themselves.

Forest have already brought 11 players to the City Ground during this transfer window thus far, and a move for Ayling would help them to cement their place as promotion contenders for the duration of this current season, with the club only currently having Tendayi Darkiwa as the clubs main recognised right-back.

This wouldn’t be great for Leeds United fans to hear, if Ayling was to leave, with many recognising the full-back as one of the clubs best players, so with hours ticking away until the window slams shut, the club will be praying the defender doesn’t leave.

With West Brom showing concrete interest though, and Forest wanting a right-back as soon as possible, it’s not impossible that Ayling could leave Elland Road – but £5m would more than likely not be enough to convince the club to let arguably their best defender to move away from Elland Road.
