Could West Brom be about to beat Leeds United to sign two midfielders? – Big money

West Brom managed to salvage a point last night against Nottingham Forest thanks to a screamer from Matt Phillips in the dying stages of their game at the City Ground – but it was clear that the Baggies are somewhat lacking in the central-midfield department, after just two games in the division.

Two players who West Brom have been linked with are Ryan Woods of Brentford and Marcus Maddison of Peterborough United – but both wouldn’t come to the Hawthorns on the cheap.

Baggies fans can somewhat begin to get excited about a potential move for either midfielder, with it being reported that striker Jay Rodriguez could be set to move to Burnley in a deal worth a massive £18m – which would free up the funds to sign either midfielder – alongside the cash the club raised through the sale of striker Salomon Rondon to Newcastle.

The Birmingham Mail have suggested that if Leeds United or West Brom want to sign Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods, they’ll have to pay around £7m to bring the midfielder to their respective clubs, whilst Maddison would most likely come with a price tag of around £2.5/3m.

The problem with any potential deal for Maddison at present seems to be the fact that Aston Villa, Leeds United and West Brom are supposedly all keen on signing the midfielder – which may somewhat overinflate his price in the coming days.

Maddison’s quality is undeniable and all of the above clubs are desperate to sign an exciting midfielder of either Woods, or Maddison’s quality, but they will all need to raise the funds to do so first.

If Rodriguez goes, expect West Brom to spend big.
