3) Patrick van Aanholt (Chelsea)
Cost: £6m-£7m
The name sounds like it’s been around for ages but Van Aanholt is only 23, and he is a talented full-back. He’s spent most of his career out on loan – five different clubs in six seasons – and doesn’t look like he’ll ever break into Chelsea’s first team squad. But the boy has talent and if a promotion chasing side really want to make a statement of intent then splashing out on Van Aanholt would be a good start, although he won’t come cheap.
He’s quick, strong and decent in the air and would be at the top of his game in the Championship, and if promotion was achieved, the transition to top flight football would come with ease.
