Leeds United have today completed the signing of Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford. The fee is thought to be around £7m, rising to a potential £10m which is an absolute steal given the quality of striker.

Born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, Patrick Bamford first played for Nottingham Forest. His time at Forest impressed those at Chelsea and he earned himself a £1.65m move down to London.

He endured several loan spells while at Chelsea. Is first one was a MK Dons. While at MK Dons, he played on 44 occasions, scored an impressive 21 goals and picked up six assists.

He then returned to Chelsea but was sent straight back out on loan to Championship Derby County. He scored eight goals in 23 appearances and earned four assists.

He then went to Middlesbrough. During his first spell at the club he won the Championship player of the season after he scored 19 goals in 44 games and led Boro all the way to the play-off final.

Following Boro he went back to Chelsea where he had spells and Crystal Palace, Norwch City and Burnley. All were complete write-offs and times in his career he probably would like to forget.

Middlesbrough then signed him permanently from Chelsea £6.2m. He impressed massively once again, scoring 13 goals in 43 appearances. This attracted the attention of Leeds United who are in much need of a striker.

This transfer is one baffling all Middlesbrough fans. He’s arguably their best striker and they’re letting him go for just a fraction of his value. Although Leeds United fans won’t be complaining one bit. They’ve been searching for a striker for an absolute age but they’ve finally found someone who is top class in the Championship.
