Swansea City defender undergoing medical at Fulham

Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson is undergoing a medical at Fulham as the Cottagers edge closer to signing the Swans man, according to Sky Sports.

It us understood that the Premier League new boys will pay £15m for his services as Slavisa Jokanovic’s men prepare for life back in the top flight.

Burnley and West Ham were both interested in signing Mawson, who impressed last season despite the clubs relegation to the Championship.

Fulham have already been active in the transfer window so far and have made a number of high profile signings.

The Cottagers have already acquired Jean Michael Seri and Aleksandar Mitrovic on permanent deals and Mawson looks set to become the newest face at Craven Cottage.

Swansea fans will be hoping that new boss Graham Potter can mastermind a promotion charge with aspirations that the Welsh club can gain an instant return back to the Premier League.

Mawson joined the Swans in 2016 from Barnsley, signing a four year deal with the club for an undisclosed fee.

During his time at the Liberty Stadium, the defender has made 65 appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals.

His impressive form whilst at Swansea earned him 6 call ups to the England U21’s, where he scored one goal for the Young Lions.

England manager Gareth Southgate has called Mawson up to the senior side, but he is yet to feature.

The 24 year old is a fantastic signing for Fulham and carries a wealth of Premier League experience.

However, his departure now leaves Graham Potter with little time to find a replacement before the transfer window shuts.
