Three teams who could surprise everyone in the Championship this season

The new Championship season is nearly upon us and fans up and down the country are preparing for another campaign. Here are three teams who could surprise everyone-

Sheffield United

The Blades came out of the blocks fast at the start of last season and were in and around the Play-Offs before their form started to deteriorate as the year progressed. However, the next campaign could be the one for them after a string of impressive signings. Dean Henderson, John Egan and David McGoldrick have all joined the club and strengthened Chris Wilder’s side. Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn is also set to sign. They will be hoping to use the experience from last season to help them through and don’t be surprised if they are in promotion contention this time around.

Preston North End

They narrowly missed out on the Play-Offs last season and have further boosted their squad with the signings of Andy Hughes, Ryan Ledson and Graham Burke. The Lilywhites are a very solid side and every player knows their job. Alex Neil has them defensively organised which makes them very tough to break down. Preston will be up there again next season, in my opinion, and could be the 2018/19 surprise promotion contenders.

Reading

The Royals had a poor campaign last time around and came 20th in the Championship. They have a new man at the helm in Paul Clement and they could raise a few eyebrows. They have made some shrewd signings in free agents Andy Yiadom, David Meyler and David Meyler. The Royals have also bolstered thier attack by signings Sam Baldock and Marc McNulty. With the likes of John Swift, Modou Barrow and Liam Kelly already in their ranks, their squad is looking strong.
