Hull City set to miss out on two transfer targets

Hull City are set to miss out on the signings of Scunthorpe United’s Conor Townsend and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Jiri Skalak.

The Tigers are looking to further  bolster their side before the end of the transfer window. They have so far signed goalkeeper George Long from Sheffield United, Todd Kane from Chelsea, Jordy de Wijs from PSV Eindhoven, Reece Burke from West Ham United, Eric Lichaj from Nottingham Forest and David Milinkovic from Genoa.

Scunthorpe United left-back Conor Townsend has been a key target for Nigel Adkins throughout this transfer window. The 25-year-old, who is from Hull and started his career with the Tigers, is wanted by Adkins to add more depth and competition to his defensive options.

However, Championship rivals West Brom are set to win the race to sign Townsend, as reported by The72. This is a blow for Hull and also Ipswich Town, who were keen on signing him too.

Another player who Hull look to be missing out on signing is Brighton and Hove Albion winger Jiri Skalak. The Czech Republic international has been made available by the Premier League side and the Tigers have seen bids for him and central midfielder Oliver Norwood turned down already by the Seagulls.

Skalak is now in talks over a move to fellow second tier side Millwall, as reported by The72 yesterday. This means that Hull will now have to look for other potential signings in the attacking department. The clock is ticking for them to get some more player through the door.
