Millwall close to completing deal for Brighton winger

Millwall are close to completing a deal to sign Brighton and Hove Albion’s Jiri Skalak according to a report from The Argus.

The Lions had a great season last year as they challenged for a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs in their first year in the division. But they have suffered some disappointment in the transfer window. They wanted to bring Ben Marshall back after he did so well on loan with them last season but despite their best attempts, he would end up moving to Norwich City instead.

This means that Millwall are in the market to sign a winger and it appears that they are closing in on their man. Skalak may not have made a league appearance in 15 months, though he did play a big part in the Brighton first team before that but he has been attracting plenty of attention from Championship sides and reports said bids had been made this week, notably one being from Hull City.

But this report has suggested that the first bid to be accepted is from Millwall and now it is up to the South London side to agree personal terms with him. Before coming to Brighton in 2016, Skalak had built a good reputation for himself in his native country of the Czech Republic. He started off with the Czech giants Sparta Prague but after several loan spells away from the side he completed a permanent move to Mlada Boleslav in 2015. But after a year there, he headed to Brighton.
