Huddersfield boss wants Middlesbrough star to replace departing Tom Ince

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner is reportedly still interested in bringing Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore to the club, according to The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

Huddersfield Town have just sold wide midfielder Tom Ince to Championship side Stoke City, and are actively looking to replace the Englishman before the window shuts next weekend.

The Terriers had previously enquired about Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, and could attempt to push through a deal in order to plug the gap left by Ince. The Boro wide man has a release clause in his current contract of £18 million, and Huddersfield are willing to take a chance on the Spaniard.

The fee would see Huddersfield break their transfer record for the second time this window, after spending £17.5 million on Monaco left-back Terence Kongolo earlier this month. The report also claims that Wagner will not be ‘frightened off’ by Middlesbrough’s asking price for the player, and the sale of Ince will only have helped matters.

Wagner is ready to battle it out with Wolves to secure Traore’s signature, with Molineux looking the most likely destination at the moment. However, Tony Pulis has revealed that there has been no bids for the Spanish Under-21 international so far, but he did state that it could be unavoidable if the right offer came in for him.

As well as Wolves and Huddersfield, top six clubs Chelsea and Tottenham also expressed an interest in Traore, and the former-Barcelona youth prospect was odds on to sign for the Blues when the window opened. However, it now looks to be a two horse race between Wolves and Huddersfield.
