Eisa from Cheltenham to Bristol City confirmed

Bristol City have today unveiled the signing of striker Mohamed Eisa from Cheltenham Town. The 24-year-old has made the move for an undisclosed fee, joining on a three-year contract at Ashton Gate.

It is understood that several clubs in the EFL had been monitoring the player some time. Most notably it was Leeds United, Portsmouth and Sunderland that had been frequently linked with the player. Nevertheless, Eisa has swapped one Johnson for another, leaving Gary, for son Lee, who of course manages Bristol City.

Chief executive Mark Ashton expressed his delight at getting this deal across the line,

“We are thrilled to have signed Mo. He was in superb form in the last campaign and we hope he can make another step up in the football ladder.

“He is tall, athletic, a proven finisher and we believe he can become even better with the help of our coaching infrastructure.”

Speaking of Gary, he told the official Cheltenham Town website that he deserves to test himself at a higher level, and with a top club such as Bristol City,

“Mo is a fantastic lad who has worked very hard ever since he has been with us and so I am sure he will succeed now in the next chapter of his career.

“I’ve been saying for six months that Mo was a Championship player and I’m pleased for him that he will now get an opportunity at that level.

“Everyone at the club loves him and while are sad to see him leave we wish him all the very best for the future.

“Bristol City ultimately knew the most about him, not only because of my connection with Lee but because they had seen him play.

“We had several Bristol City players on loan with us last season and all the Bristol staff that watched Mo, when they came to our games, agreed they should take him. They saw his true value.

“Mo had his preferences and was delighted when Bristol City came in for him. We look forward to seeing how he now progresses.”

Eisa netted 25 goals in 50 matches for the Robins last season.
