Leeds United and QPR to wait on Jordan Hugill decision

The race for Jordan Hugill looks to have slowed down as West Ham United wait before deciding whether or not they will allow the striker to leave the club. Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers are those interested according to Alan Nixon, but whether either will get the player remains to be seen.

Hugill doesn’t seem to be in the plans at West Ham United under Manuel Pelligrini but until they can find a replacement they won’t let him leave, that’s the situation as it stands. Leeds can’t afford to wait for that sort of decision unfortunately, just one forward at the club and looking pretty toothless so far in pre-season.

Queens Park Rangers decided Ian Holloway wasn’t the man to take the club forward after last summer and Steve McLaren has been charged with rebuilding the squad. It’s not so easy with the money constraints at the club, over-spending in the Premier League cost QPR, like many other teams dearly. They have now converted into a mid-table Championship team.

The lure for Hugill and Queens Park Rangers is that he wouldn’t need to relocate, but maybe he felt better up north whilst at Preston North End and a move up to Leeds wouldn’t do him any harm at all. This news maybe leaves Leeds in a  position where they once again have to move on. At some stage they will need to make some progress in the market.

In terms of target men in the Championship Hugill was the best when he played. He doesn’t necessarily score stacks of goals but he does put himself about and holds the ball as good as most at this level, if not better. It would be a good signing for a Championship club, if they’re willing to wait.
