Today’s game against Southend at Roots Hall kicks off in little under an hour and it will be the Whites stiffest test of their pre-season so far.
Marcelo Bielsa takes the core of what will be his first-string line-up to Essex looking to continue the unbeaten trend that has seen all Leeds United sides not drop a game this pre-season so far.
This game against ‘The Shrimpers’ is the club’s second against Football League opposition, Leeds having last beaten Forest green thanks to first half goals from Kemar Roofe and Luke Ayling.

Still no sign of recent keeper signing Jamal Blackman for Leeds United, Bailey Peacock-Farrell starting with Under-23 stopper Kamel Maziek on the bench. It’s a familiar outfield unit to Whites fans with the exception of Laurens De Bock. De Bock had a tidy game last time out against York City, Bielsa seemingly giving another look over.
On the bench are youngsters Jordan Stevens and Ryan Edmondson as well as big-money signing Tyler Roberts – a youngster who arrived at Elland Road injured and has hardly been seen since.
Leeds United fans react to Southend starting XI
Here’s a snapshot of some Leeds United fan reactions to what they face seeing as their side take on Southend. With kick-off quickly approaching, here’s what these fans think:
We need players like you wouldn’t believe. Relegation squad written all over it, Bielsa isn’t a miracle worker.

Decent but not much up front imo…as you say we need to add to it…let’s see if Roberts comes on and how good or bad he is.
