Ipswich aim to make it third time lucky in Blackpool defender chase

The East Anglian Daily Times reports that Ipswich Town are set to produce a third bid for Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt. The Portman Road club have already seen two offers turned down for the Sky Bet League One player, but the two clubs are getting closer to agreeing a valuation.

It is understood that the second bid produced by the Tractor Boys for Tilt was in the region of £600,000. This is lower than what Blackpool would like but Ipswich are set to up the ante in this battle to boost their squad ahead of the new season. Paul Hurst continues to target the lower leagues to find value and add numbers to his roster.

At the beginning of the summer, Blackpool did want something like £1million to sell the player on. However, since then, they dropped these high demands, which has further interested Ipswich in their quest to snap up the 26-year-old.

Rangers had been keeping tabs on the player too, with Gers boss Steven Gerrard sending scouts to watch the player in action during pre-season. However, it is believed Ipswich’s biggest challenge for the player will come from another side in their division in the form of Queens Park Rangers. Hurst however has gone on record to say that Tilt is a player he would like to add to his squad, in as many words. Another centre back is a priority after allowing Adam Webster to transfer to Bristol City a few weeks ago. Tilt could be that man, and time will tell if that is the case.
