Leeds enter the race for hottest striker in the EFL lower leagues

The News claims that Leeds United have expressed an interest in signing highly-rated Cheltenham Town striker Mohamed Eisa. Portsmouth, Peterborough United and Sunderland are also interested in snapping up the in-demand Sky Bet League Two forward.

Eisa is said to be rated at £1.5million by his current club. Whilst Gary Johnson certainly won’t want to lose his star man, he will acknowledge it is a strong possibility given the calibre of interest in the 24-year-old. Leeds are the first club in the Sky Bet Championship to enter the race, which may give them a strong edge in terms of attracting him to Elland Road.

Sunderland recently produced a bid of £1million for Eisa, according to Sky Sports. They are said to be lining up an improved bid, as Jack Ross looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion back into the second tier at the very first attempt.

However, news of Leeds wanting the front man means Portsmouth may have to admit defeat in this respective race. Manager Kenny Jackett says that he cannot afford to focus too much attention on just one specific transfer target, especially in a case like this, when interest is so high and intense. Therefore, they may look to produce one last bid, or look to alternatives in the market.

Leeds fans have been growing frustrated at the lack of movement in the transfer market to date. Perhaps Marcelo Bielsa is of the same feeling too. Loan recruits have been added from the Premier League, but Eisa would be a permanent switch if they could force it over the line.
