Bolton Wanderers have made a big signing today, Yanic Wildschut has joined from Norwich City on loan. They are still desperate for a striker and the man they want is Charlie Wyke.
The Bradford City forward is a wanted man, and Bolton are still in the race for his signature according to The Bolton News.
Bolton have had other concerns so far this summer and signing players has fallen to the back of the queue. The players who are currently on the books went on strike after a pay dispute that only ended a couple of days back. As the club announced the players and club had sorted the situation it unfolded a whole new drama.
The announcement from the club via the website seemed to indicate that the players were sorry for what had happened and were the ones in the wrong, when in reality the club simply didn’t pay them what they were due. Would they have sported the situation if they hadn’t refused to play the pre-season game? Probably not.
Anyway back to the business of the striker hunt. Sunderland are favourites for a deal involving Charlie Wyke and have had their initial £600k bid rejected but are expected to go back in for the player. Phil Parkinson will see Wyke as the replacement for Gary Madine who joined Cardiff City in January and will want a deal for a player done soon with the season fast approaching.
The signing of Wildschut is a huge boost and a coup in reality. The player helped Cardiff City gain promotion to the Premier League just two months ago and that tells you the calibre. Wigan were expected to make the move but Bolton have won that race, can they win the race for Wyke?
