Last night, it was reported that Brentford had accepted a bid from an unnamed Sky Bet Championship club for winger Florian Jozefzoon.
Rumours had started to surface that the unnamed club were Leeds United, but Sky Sports have today confirmed that it is in fact Derby County.
Leeds United had been favourites to sign him for the last few weeks after they originally showed an interest in him, but Derby County look set to beat the Yorkshire club to the signing of the 27-year-old.
It was just yesterday that the Rams completed the double loan signing of two Premier League youngsters. Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount joined the club, while Liverpool winger Harry Wilson also made the move to Pride Park.
And now it seems that Derby are closing in on another signing, as talks are ongoing between Jozefzoon and Frank Lampard’s side.
Jozefzoon joined Brentford back in January 2017, joining the club for an undisclosed fee from Dutch side PSV.
He played over 50 times for the Dutch top flight side, earning himself a move to England.
It seems his performances over the last year and a half at Griffin Park have attracted the attention of a number of clubs in the Sky Bet Championship.
Both Derby County and Leeds United have the ambition of achieving promotion back to the Premier League, and the signing of Jozefzoon could help either side.
Leeds United fans will be disappointed that it appears they have lost out on another one of the targets, as they grow increasingly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
