Former Leeds flop closes in on switch to League Two Swindon

It has been a challenging few seasons for Diagouraga, who did once have a big reputation in the EFL from his time at Brentford. A switch to Leeds United arrived, but unfortunately for him this proved to set the ball rolling for an unsteady career. However, he is very much looking to settle down once again and Swindon look to have handed him this opportunity.

He soon grew out of favour at Leeds, although a change of manager perhaps did not do his case any good. A loan switch to Ipswich Town would follow, but it was not made permanent. In the first half of last season, he enjoyed some game time at Plymouth Argyle, but he then completed a switch to Fleetwood in January, citing the desire to be ‘closer to his young family’.

Barton is preparing for his first job in football management and was honest enough to tell the experienced midfielder that he is not going to figure too prominently in his plans. This opened the door for a summer move, and a switch to the County Ground is surely close to being officially concluded. Brown wants to build a team that can challenge for promotion, and a fully-fit and effective Diagouraga is certainly an asset in that league.
