Leeds United and Nottingham Forest still outsiders to sign 162 Premier League striker

Although the odds are out at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively, the fact that odds have been given shows that there is some sort of interest there.

Rangers and West Ham United are the only two teams above them, with the pair given odds of 3/1 and 8/1 respectively.

Leeds United are on the lookout for a striker this summer as they look to improve on last season’s 13th place finish, while Nottingham Forest are a lot of people’s favourites to achieve promotion to the Premier League.

It seems like a ridiculous rumour, but it is certainly one that is possible. Jermain Defoe is nearing the end of his career, and at the age of 35, he may not have too many years left playing.

It is likely that Defoe will be surplus to requirements at Bournemouth this season, so he may look to leave in order to make the most of his last few playing years.

Although his wages will be quite a lot, a drop down to the Sky Bet Championship could seriously be on the cards for the former England striker.

His wealth of experience would be of use to any second tier side. Jermain Defoe has made 492 appearances in the top flight of English football, scoring 192 goals for five different teams.

As well as this, Defoe has played 57 times for the senior England team, scoring 20 goals in the process.
