A leaked image on Social Media suggests that Ipswich Town have completed the signing of winger Gwion Edwards.

The Blues have been linked with the Peterborough United starlet for a while now. However, the leaked image appears to show Edwards holding aloft an Ipswich Town shirt on the Portman Road pitch.

Edwards, a winger by trade, made 26 appearances for Peterborough United in the Sky Bet League One. But the 25-year-old was given permission to speak to Ipswich Town following the Tractor Boys’ interest.

Town boss Paul Hurst spoke on Saturday to say that he was unaware that Posh had accepted a bid from the Blues:

“Have we? That’s news to me,” Hurst said when asked about a move for Edwards.

“I like the player but that bit’s news to me, although hopefully you’re right.”

Following the exciting news that Bartosz Bialkowski had put pen to paper on a new deal, tying him to the Club until at least 2021, Hurst looks set to reveal his third signing of the summer.

Should Edwards’ move to Portman Road be formalised today, the winger will follow in the footsteps of Trevor Chalobah and Jordan Roberts from Chelsea and Crawley Town respectively.

The talented winger had a successful time at London Road last term, scoring seven goals and turning provider five times.

Edwards joined Peterborough from Crawley in 2016 on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He has one year left on his current deal with the Posh, but they are now ready to cash in on him, rather than risking losing him on a free transfer next summer.
