Bolton Wanderers aren’t having a good summer, well the players certainly aren’t and nor are the fans. Pay rows and controversy are in the headlines but amongst the chaos some news Boton fans might actually enjoy, they have made Bradford striker Charlie Wyke the number one striker target.
Bolton need players through the door as soon as possible and Phil Parkinson understands that it’s better to spend the money in certain situations. According to The Bolton News Wyke is the top target for the strikers role and he’s one of those players who will almost certainly get a move away from Bradford City in the next three weeks. Sunderland and Jack Ross have seen a six-figure bid rejected, believed to be around £600k.
Bolton did manage to keep hold of some key players after last season but the situation this summer has really damaged the chances of progressing again next season. Bolton stayed up on the final day of last term, a dramatic survival with the latest of turnarounds against Nottingham Forest was as dramatic as it comes but kicking on has become harder than what anyone could have imagined.
Parkinson told Bolton news, “If you get a loan striker, of Championship standard, you are going to pay a significant loan fee.”
Parkinson turned Gary Madine into a target man that ended up leaving for £6 million, a striker who, on his day was one of the most effective in the division at what he did. Despite being offered various loan deals Parkinson would rather spend the money and look to work with a player, develop them and not worry about what comes next when the loan deal is up. There is less than three weeks until the start of the season, Bolton need to get moving and give themselves a fighting chance of progressing again this season.
