Stoke City star expected to remain at club

Since Stoke’s relegation from the top flight of English football, Jack Butland had been expected to move to a Premier League side, with Liverpool favourites to secure his signature.

However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp came out last week and confirmed that the club were not looking to sign a new goalkeeper, and that he was satisfied with what he has currently got at the club.

This has seen the odds on Butland moving to the Champions League finalists drop down to 5/1, when at one point in time they were as low as 1/5.

Instead, Butland is now odds on to remain at Stoke City, and has been given odds of 5/6 to play for them in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

Stoke’s 10 year stay in the Premier League was ended last season with their relegation, but they are heavily fancied to bounce back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Gary Rowett has taken charge at the Bet365 Stadium, and despite losing Xherdan Shaqiri to Liverpool, they have made some excellent signings, and players such as Joe Allen and Ryan Shawcross still remain at the club.

The news that Jack Butland is looking increasingly likely to stay will also be fantastic news, and will leave Stoke City fans feeling even more positive ahead of the new season, which kicks off with a trip to Leeds United in just under three weeks time.
